Matting Day

Hi everyone,

Don’t forget to bring in your matting supplies. We will spend the class period matting our first “good” drawing you did.

You’ll need…

  • Fresh mat blades (I don’t provide them)
  • Xacto knife or utility knife with SHARP blades
  • White(ish) Mat board (typically a 30 x 40 inch sheet)
  • White foamcore (again, 30 x 40 inch sheet)
  • Linen tape
  • 18 inch ruler
  • A lot of Band Aides

Welcome to ART101

Welcome all new and returning students to Art Foundations I. I’m looking forward to working with all of you this semester. Bring your newsprint pad, graphite pencil(s), and conte or charcoal sticks. We’ll get started drawing. See you then.

Art is hard, takes a lot of time and cost a lot of money

It is expensive to be an art major or even to take an art course – especially your first year in college when you have to buy everything new. Expect to spend some serious money on art supplies. Student grade supplies will work just fine as you learn techniques and build skills, but quality supplies and tools will yield superior results and might alleviate some frustrations. See the tab above for a list of recommended supplies. Come to the first day of class with your newsprint pad and black conte crayon,
